Answer

A call number is the combination of letters and numbers that determine the location of an item in the library. Library of Congress call numbers begin with a letter and are used in academic libraries; Dewey Decimal call numbers begin with numbers and are typically used in public libraries. The UI Library uses the Library of Congress call number system. A floor map of the UI Library can help you locate call numbers within the library.
